Sofia Ravelo, ALC, NCE

Sofia Ravelo, a passionate mental health advocate, has dedicated her life’s work to helping, advocating for, and guiding her clients. She currently serves as an Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC) under supervision in the state of Alabama.

Sofia prides herself on serving and connecting with her clients on a deeper level to achieve maximum results. She is bilingual, speaking English and Spanish fluently, and has worked with clients that speak both or either language. By working with clients in the language they are most comfortable with, Sofia can engage with her clients on a more familial level to help them reach their goals.

Sofia has experience with all age groups and utilizes various therapy methods based on the needs of the client. She is highly skilled in numerous counseling and therapy techniques and interventions, such as art and play therapy, Cognitive-Based Therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT, person-centered therapy, Gestalt therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical behavior therapy, and much more.

Sofia graduated from Auburn University at Montgomery in 2018 with a Bachelor of Psychology and minor in Biology. She also earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from AUM in 2023. Sofia completed her internship and practicum at East Central Mental Health Center in Union Springs, AL. Upon completion of her internship, she was hired as their children, adolescent and adult outpatient therapist. She also received the Alabama Counseling Association Outstanding Graduate Counseling Student Award for Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Sofia is excited to bring her skills, expertise, and passion to the Avondale and Associates team to help further the mission of providing clients with a safe, professional, and individualized approach to therapy.
